With the development of the multi-medium and networks technology, people has put forward the higher requirement at quality dimension and application in digital image, wanting to use limited space and bandwidth resources to transmit a big image and according to the real needs to gain the reconfiguration image of different resolution or qualities. This will be begged that the image compression technology not only have good compression efficiency but also can handle nimbly the compression code rate. At present .the JPEG stationary picture compressing standard has a good compressing effect on middle and high compressing rate. But there exists a serious diamond effect at low compressing rate. On the side, JPEG standard can not very well make the needs transmitting mages by networks at low compressing rate. In order to solve the mentioned above issue, the international standard organisation (ISO) has laid down the new generation stationary picture compression standard, The JPEG2000 (serial number is ISO-15444) Owing to many parts of the standard series still are not to be international standard. This text analyse and research ISO 15444-1 that has been formed the international standard.and employing the standard to solve the mentioned above issue using the standard.This paper is divided into two parts altogether .The digital image processing foundation of the JPEG2000 is described at first part. And it is provided for studing JPEG2000 standard. Second part provide about the realization course of JPEG2000 standard. Analyse the difference of structure by different method and according to the different method to compare the correspond result. Moreover compareing the compression effect between JPEG and JPEG2000.
