Downstream Traffic Management Based On The Mpls Packet Transmitted Chip Verification

Traffic Management based on Packet Transfer of MPLS is a part of Packet Transfer chip, which is a SoC, has about 100 million gates, and adopts 65-nm process. Scale of Traffic Management is about a quarter. It cost 20 months and its verification cost about 14 months. Comparing with last project, bandwidth of the chip is doubled. Packet Transfer of statistical multiplexing and telecom-class Quality of Service were realized.The realization of packet reorganization and scheduling is complex and has taken enormous challenges to verification. Design and verification separation, testbench based on VMM, packet and traffic comparing were adopted during testing period. Firstly, test team analyzed specification and features of chip, and chose Testbench and test strategies. Secondly, testbenches of Unit Test, Integrated Test, System Test and post simulation were founded. Furthermore, Test Points and Test Cases were resolved, which were executed at Integrated Test, System Test and post simulation. Finally, we gathered test results and completed the reports which passed through accreditation. As a team core member, I took a quarter workload of verification. This paper describes the entire process of testing from chip function to test conclusion according to the flow.Comparing with the similar project, not only did it reach every export standard, but it saved four months. The innovation of testing improved verification efficiency, completeness and quality. Test result shows that test strategy, testbench and test flow are correct and successful. Traffic Management realized packet cutting, reorganization and multi-level scheduling. Functions and specifications met the needs of Quality of Service of Packet Transfer Network. Performance and specification of Packet Transfer is better than all advanced telecom companies, but costs have been greatly reduced. It will not only save more than 100 million Yuan every year, but also create a compatible transfer platform of Synchronous Digital Hierarchy and Packet Transfer Network, which is very conducive to product promotion and application. It will provide Quality of Service of VPN, VoIP, IPTV, and E-Commerce Business in fixed and mobile network.
