Research On The Convergence Mechanism And Fusion Degree Of Productive Service Industry And Manufacturing Industry

In 1970 s, industrial convergence presented itself for the first time in the internal information department of developed countries in Europe, America and Japan. After 1990 s, with the world-wide popularization of personal computer, the extensive application o f the internet, the continuous technological innovation in different industries, and the industrial regulation increasingly loosened by different governments, industrial convergence expanded in the global marketing, including the Chinese market. Thus, industrial convergence was no longer confined to the internal information department, it also showed up among producer service industry, manufacturing industry and other industries. In the meanwhile, industrial convergence also witnessed an intensified layer, which led to the gradually ambiguous boundaries among the industries and the formation o f some new business types.Since the reform and opening up in China, the development o f Chinese manufacturing industry has advanced by leaps and bounds. However, under the background that the current and future information resource has gradually become the main source o f the value o f economic activities, and the trend that the advantage of factor cost has gradually faded away, it is quite difficult for Chinese manufacturing industry to promote or even maintain its industrial competitiveness by relying on the previous mode o f development. In the meanwhile, the producer service industry in China also show some questions in its development, such as the small quantity, low degree o f marketization and industrial convergence, etc. While confronting with the possible deceleration of manufacturing development, there!s a possibility that the service department, which serves industrial production, will loss more development space due to the weakening demands. Under this background, the integrative development of producer service industry and manufacturing industry—an important channel that can promote the industrial competitiveness and cope with the new economic normality—is o f great research value and significance.Based on this background, and the extensive literature collection, organization and review, the mechanism under which the producer service industry can integrate with the manufacturing industry is elaborated. How to measure the level of convergence of regional producer service industr}- and manufacturing industry is also interpreted. Moreover, the level of convergence of producer service industry and manufacturing industry in four provinces and cities in the Pan-Yangtze river delta ismeasured, compared and analyzed. First o f all, the mechanism under which the producer service industry can integrate with the manufacturing industry is illustrated through the theory o f value chain and industrial convergence, and other classic theories o f industrial economics in four parts, which are the type, the foundation, the process and the driving force of convergence. Next, based on the research o f the convergence mechanism, an input-output table is applied to construct a model to measure the level o f convergence o f producer service industry and manufacturing industry. There are the model to measure two different types of convergence(the main body o f convergence is the manufacturing industry or the producer service industry), and the model to measure the convergence of sub-industries o f the two industries. Finally, the input-output table and the models o f measuring the level of industrial convergence are applied to measure the level o f convergence o f producer service industry and manufacturing industry in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui in the Pan-Yangtze river delta. In consideration of the current development of the two industries in the four provinces and cities, a dynamic comparison and research is conducted on the result o f the measurement. Relevant conclusions and suggestions are reached and presented.
