Social Welfare Effect Of New Rural Cooperatives

The practice of the economic cooperation has a long history. At the beginning of the 1950s, the agricultural cooperative movement produced the rural cooperatives. After the reform and opening up various forms of cooperatives have gradually emerged.Scholars did the study on these cooperatives’ founding, economic function a nd social function from a variety of angles, but seem to lack the study on whether the cooperatives can promote the missing social welfare in the new situation. This paper a ttempts to use an empirical approach to do a preliminary study.This paper takes the case study method. Based on the thorough investigation Jurong Daizhuang Organic Farming Cooperative, this new cooperative economic organizations of farmers not only make full use of local resources, but also fully adapt to the market environment. Of more concern is that this new type of rural cooperative bring "unintended consequences"-to enhance the welfare of farmers, specifically as follows:First place to promote local farmers employment and entrepreneurship; two are conducive to the rural elderly home care; Third, through the development of organic agriculture, rural avoiding environmental pollution and ecological pollution, and improve the ecological environment of rural infrastructure has improved. On this basis, the paper argues that this new cooperative brings broad social welfare effects of sense. Not all cooperatives can bring collective rationality, can enhance the social welfare of members.Based on the case of Daizhuang, I consider that this new type of cooperative can improve the social welfare effects, mainly lies in the following points:Firstly,develop and implement a system called "Based on Collective Rationality".Secondly, make full use of modern agricultural technology and adapt to the market development.Thirdly, have the overall thinking and beyond the economic rationality of single.Dai Zhuang m ode not only focus on the economic income of their members, but also on taking com prehensive factors of employment, pension, the ecological environment into considera tion.In this sense, the paper thinks that it is a new type of cooperative which is worth 1 ooking forward to.Daizhuang case is typical and whether this kind of "mode" can keep going shoul d be further investigated (e.g. Management mode of integrating village and communit y is reasonable and so on).However,this model provides possibilities namely setting n ew cooperative system not only has the good economic effect in certain situation, but also enhance social welfare of local members.This will undoubtedly urges our reflecti on of the new countryside construction at present.
