A Study On Urban Poverty In The Process Of Urbanization In China

Take a wide view of the development process of urbanization in the world, urban poverty and the attendant urban slums is an inevitable problem in the process of urbanization for every country. Currently, urban development in China has entered a rapid changing era. How to reduce urban poverty, and avoid the formation of slums in the process of urbanization, which is must be solved for Persisting in Scientific Views of Development, building a socialist harmonious society and promoting the development of urbanization and industrialization.In the background of the rapid urbanization in China, this paper Analyzes the emergence and development of slums in other countries, discuss the facing urban poverty and potential "slum" pressure of the rapid urbanization by comprehensive use of theory of economics, sociology, political science, demography, urban planning. Through the comparative analysis of the experience and lessons which is about to urban antipoverty and slum governance in the progress of international urbanization. This paper put forward much countermeasures and suggestions, for reducing China’s urban poverty and preventing the formation of slums, and contributing to the smooth progress of urbanization in China.The first chapter is the introduction part of this paper. It has a brief explanation of the topic background and significance, and offers literature review of domestic and international, seeking a theoretical basis for this study.The second chapter introduces the theory of urban poverty and slums, as well as the definition of slums, focusing on the generated causes and conditions of slum, and the slum in other countries.The third chapter is a status analysis. On the basis of analyzing the urban poverty in the Chinese progress of urbanization, which contrast with the production conditions of slums in other countries.This part discuss the latent pressure from the Urban “Slum”in China, and describe shanty towns, and city villages existing in our country, which is contrast foreign slums.The fourth chapter hackle the facing slum challenge in the in other countries and experience in dealing with slum, both failures and success experience.The fifth chapter is the policy recommendations. We get inspiration from answerable experiences of other countries about slum, based on our concrete national conditions, put forward some basic measure for preventing the slum, and countermeasures and suggestions for reducing urban poverty.
