| In 2014, J·Tirole was awarded the Nobel Prize in economics, for his contribution in the field of industrial organization theory. After John Stigler was awarded the Nobel Prize in economics in 1982, this is George industrial organization theorists won the prize again. This news will attract our eyes to this traditional areas, in recent forty years, what is the new development in this field? This article first introduced the origin of the theory of industrial organization, development, and compared the similarities and differences between the harvard school, Chicago school, Austrian school as well as the new institutional economics in the aspects of the theoretical basis, research methods and policy proposals. Then discussed new ideas and conclusions that J·Tirole put forward in the study of the theory of industrial organization.Finally instruct the development in China about the theory of industrial organization and explores beneficial enlightenment for China’s economic development.In the first part, first of all, I combed two stages of the development of the industrial organization theory, Before the 70s, the research is based on the case studies and empirical research, and after the 70s, and the research is based on theoretical models. Then, I detailed account of the several schools in the theory of industrial organization, representative figures of the school and summarize the representative views of each school. Finally, I compared the similarities and differences of several schools.In the second part, this paper discusses the new development of industrial organization lately and the application of the economics of industrial organization in China.In the third part, this paper discusses the new contribution that J·Tirole made in nearly forty years, J·Tirole uses new method to discuss monopoly market, and bring a new perspective to solve the problem for the government and enterprises. Finally I put forward the new theory applied in China. |
