With the rapid development of big data, it has led the development and changes in the business environment. In order to promote the development of enterprises, business model should constantly adapt to the progress of the business environment. This paper mainly analyzes the complex adaptive characteristics:aggregation,flow,identification,nonlinear,diversity,internal model and building blocks of business model innovation by introducing the theory of complex adaptive system. Cause business model innovation has the characteristics of complex adaptive system, so we treat the business innovation as a complex adaptive system. Through the idea of system, analyzing the complexity and evolution characteristics of business model innovation system, explaining the interaction between big data and business model innovation system. And how the big data to promote the evolution of business model innovation system. Put forward the evolution process and evolution framework of business model innovation system under the big data background.Through the systematic analysis of business model innovation, explaining big data as the external environmental stimulus situation, the business model innovation system identify the internal rules, and innovate the business model. Mainly describes in order to adapt to the big data environment, the commercial business model innovation, supply chain innovation, value proposition innovation, profit model innovation, business innovation, business model innovation and evolution of the business model.According to the analysis of business model innovation system, we do an empirical study on Taobao. We performed a questionnaire investigation on the cor-relationship between the big data and the understanding of customer needs and market trends.Using SPSS software to analysis the data, the relationship between the using of big data and the understanding of customer needs and market are positively related. Based on the positive correlation, using and concerning the big data also has a positive relationship with the Taobao business innovation system, especially positive related to the value proposition innovation and profit model innovation. Among this, we research on the using of big data has a positive influence on the market segmentation, region segmentation and consumer segmentation of value proposition innovation; and also using of big data has a positive influence on the B2C profit model, key word bidding and Taobao express of profit model innovation. And also, Taobao business innovation system as an adaptive system, value proposition innovation and profit model innovation will adaptive evolve with the big data.
