In recent years, China has suffered from decline in economy growth rate as well as severe atmospheric pollution and green gas emission, due to its reliance on coal in the energy market. Meanwhile, Chinese petroleum relys highly on import. The pollution calls for upgrade in energy structure, and energy safety is to be enhanced. Then "Shale gas revolution" reminds China of another possibility to solve such problems. China can try exploiting its abundant source of shale gas, through which China can reduce its pollution by altering primary energy structure, and reducing energy reliance. Under such a background, the plentitude of shale gas in Sichuan has turn the province into a hot spot in energy exploitation. Viewing in the aspect of regional energy exploitation, This article has done a thourough and all-round research for Sichuan Shale gas exploitation under regional economics criterion.First, This article generalizes the necessaty for China to exploit shale gas, summerizes current foreign and domestic shale gas related studies, and eluminate the effect of shale gas exploitation to develop economy and improve environment through economics theories. Then the article analyzes the practices of shale gas exploitation in the U.S., and systematiclly analyzes the current situation and potential advantages and disavantages of Sichuan shale gas exploitation, and quantitatively analyzes the possible reward for Sichuan province from exploiting shale gas by input-output model to distinguish the key factors for the future. Finally, the article provides targeted suggestion and strategy on the issue: promoting technology progress, guiding the industry proceed gradually to market environment, and realizing shale gas’ eco-value.
