Today there are not only keen competition but also frequent cooperation, between liner shipping companies, confronted with fierce competition for markets. With the coming of the hot wave of the cooperation, joint operation allying and merger, global structure of shipping market has changed greatly. Through sharing ships and docks, liner shipping companies have succeeded in raising utilization ration of equipments, reducing investment in equipment of container transportation, so that the risks of investment and management have been reduced, and large-scaled economic returns have been acquired. Meanwhile, through expanding the extent of shipping services covering, intensifying the frequency of services, lines provide better service for shipper and strengthen their own competitive power. Lines alliance is permeated with competition and cooperation from beginning to end, which impels alliance's group to realign. All these companies, large or small, are developing towards global carriers with the transportation route being changed from line to network, and the form of their cooperation has being changed from Liner conference and Discussion/Talking Agreements into Consortium/Consortia and Strategic/global alliances. Lines' cooperation of capacities among different companies has become a hot topic, which more attention should be paid to. This paper aims to analyze and study the practice and decision making of lines' cooperation of capacities among different companies. There are six chapters for this dissertation. The construction and method of this dissertation are as follows. Chapter One is the introduction. In this chapter, the author introduced the significance of this dissertation, present studies for the issue home and abroad, and the studying content of this dissertation. In Chapter Two, the author mainly discussed the relative problems of the lines' capacity cooperation among different containerized liner shipping companies. Firstly, the situation for present competition in the market for containerized liner shipping was analyzed, and then the author introduced the organization form and content for capacity cooperation among different containerized liner shipping companies. Basic decision making model andmethod were discussed in Chapter Three and Four. Moreover, the author introduced and analyzed the basic theory used in these two chapters. Two kinds of mathematical model, namely, minimum freight linear programming model and goal programming model were used to study and analyze the problem of the lines' capacity cooperation. Based on Chapter Three and Four, the author gave an example, and analyzed the result of the example particularly. Chapter Six is the last chapter. In this chapter, the author made conclusions for the studying work of this dissertation, and gave expectation for further researches.
