Choice Of Modes Of Transport Based On The Analytic Hierarchy Process

Different transportation mode has different features in transportation speed, transportation capability, stability and etc, which result in different costs and the level of customer services. So, the selection of transportation mode becomes the first problem the enterprisers have to solve when they make decisions about transportation. In order to try to find a better way to help the enterprisers to make a suitable selection, this paper mainly studies how to apply the Analytical Hierarchic Process (AHP) to the selection of transportation mode. Firstly, this paper briefly introduces the basic rules and the ordinary modeling process of AHP. Then, the author analyzes respectively the main factors about transportation modes and the reasons to select them, as well as the coherence consistency inspection and the way to compute the weights. In the last part, based on the above analysis, this paper set an example to demonstrate the application of the AHP to the selection of transportation modes.
