After the depression in modern history, China which has ever created splendid civilization and been the pacemaker of the world for hundreds of years during ancient era restarted off on the great way to revival and growth. However, following the high speed economic growth for about 30 years, extensive growth pattern which has the characteristics of vast input, excessive consumption of resources, high strength of pollution and low efficiency has been a long-term persistent problem. Why couldn't China quicken the transition of its economic growth pattern?According to the actual situations of China which is a huge developing country in transitional times, this paper applies the modern economic growth theories and institutional changes theories in institutional economics, makes general and systemic analysis for the above-mentioned problems. The paper points out that China can't carry out the transition because of three main obstacles. First, the input of production factors have sustained the extensive pattern all the times. Second, the factor productivity rose slowly. Third, existent institutional defects have set up many institutional obstacles.Then, the paper gives some corresponding countermeasures and suggestions: Optimizing the input of production factors to get over the factors partiality of extensive growth pattern; Rising the factor productivity to provide the power source of transition; Using the system innovation to improve the institutions for growth pattern transition.The structure of this paper is that: In the first chapter, I made an analysis of the factors which influence the economic growth pattern. In the second chapter, according to the actual situations of China, I specified the obstacles in three factors, which have blocked the fast growth pattern transition. In the third chapter, I gave some corresponding countermeasures and suggestions to solve the problems.
