With the rapid development of China's national economy, the demand for the energy will continue to increase and the supply of energy will be the main factor to restrict the economy for a long time.At the same time, We must protect the natural envirenment, clean our hometown, and make good use of the energy. As a clean, effective and low- price energy, Liquefied Natural Gas has already stressed to be developed.Nowadays.Guangdong's LNG project has been started.AII the investment will be $291 billions. The first project( include Guangzhou,Shenzhen,Foshan, Dongguan )will receiving 103mt/a. But by the year of 2006 ,the first project will be finished, receiving will expand to 370mt/a . In the long run,all the project will expand to 750mt/a some years later. Therefore, how to select the optimal ship type for Guangdong's importing LNG transportation will become the important title that many shipping enterprises are facing. This paper analyses the development of LNG seaborne trade of the world and the demand of Guangdong's LNG import, construe the LNG fleet and the tendency of the ship type, elaborate the special requirement of LNG transportation against the port. Based on the content mentioned above, a series schemes of ship type to be demonstrated are put forward and some mathematics models that is necessary for the demonstration are built and the theories and steps are given. After getting the results, we go further study on the LNG fleet and make the sensitive analyses. So, the optimal ship type and the type of the LNG fleet are presented. I hope the theories and the results of LNG ship and fleet type demonstration will be instructive for the shipping enterprises that is trying to participate in Guangdong's importing LNG project.
