Thanks to the development of science and technology, especially the development of computer science and Internet, management information system (MIS) has been widely used in almost every industry since 1950', served for its management and the decision-making. The development of management information system has experienced the stages of electronic data processing system, management control system, decision support system and strategy information system. Management information system has been applied to commercial banking system since 1960'. It has deeply changed commercial bank's organization form and enhanced the efficiency of its management. Because it is a great new era of information, Commercial banks must use the information efficiently. And the use of management information system will deeply affect the core competitive power of commercial banks.Management information system has been used in Chinese commercial banks for over 20 years. Now it is widely used in credit and accounting, and gradually applied to policy-making support. Moreover, up to 2005, the Chinese commercial banks have almost completed the construction of data processing center and the centralization of the operation data.According to the WTO agreement, the Chinese financial industry must be opened to the world this year. Then massive foreign commercial banks will rush in, forming formidable impact to our local banking system.
