Overseas Oil And Gas Exploration Projects In Operations Management

Based on the experience in performing project management, the author analyzed and summarized the problems in operating of overseas companies and the headquarter at the beginning of overseas prospecting projects of China National Offshore Oil Corporation(CNOOC).The thesis stated the contradiction between current increased demand of petroleum and the lack of oil & gas resources in the world, as well as the experience that Chinese oil companies conformed to the "going out" policy under the global competition. Next, the basic theories of project management and oil & gas prospecting had been extensively studied. Then the thesis focused on operating management of the project. According to the traits of overseas projects, how the operating companies made a good communication with the headquarter effectively and efficiently, and propose a strong basis for future decisions, during the process of executing after the headquarter makes decisions.The proposed theory had been applied to the Myanmar case. The author firstly analyzed the determination of the project object, work breakdown structures, reporting and human resources management in project executing processes, as well as cost, schedule and contract in project controlling processes.
