Retail survival and development are always concerned by the consumers, entrepreneurs, scholars, and governments. Especially after China joins the WTO, foreign-funded retailers enter the Chinese market faster. China's retail businesses are in the throes of rapid adjustment, reform period.The development of China's retail is not optimistic. Retail businesses have become increasingly complex, while many producers have to establish their own sales networks, to extend the tentacles of the circulation field. Meanwhile the world retail giants also take a variety of forms to enter the Chinese market. They have matured price advantage, regulated retail concept, perfect distribution system and flexible mechanisms talents which constitute a powerful threat to China's retail. China's retail business should find a new export.Michael Porter's competition theory has provided an important guide in China's retail development, which is the weapon for winning enterprise competitiveness. When we find that foreign-invested retail enterprises have seized the city market area, our national enterprises in the rural market have a vast space for development. Therefore, the author proposes to develop the supermarket in small towns, and China's retail should build a "The countryside to encircle the cities" different, low-cost path.The author believes that, China retail market moving to small towns to avoid the city market competition is the best strategic decision. Therefore, the author analyzes the necessity and feasibility to establish supermarkets in small towns. And establish supermarket models in small towns which have a very broad prospect. Finally, through our supermarket cases come to the conclusion, the development of supermarkets in small towns is the inevitable choice.Research methods in this paper: 1, theoretical research and empirical analysis.
