This paper introduces the application and the current development of the schiff base andpolyimide, Schiff base and its complexes have been widely used in the field of medicine,catalyzer, analytical chemistry, corrosion and functional materials, which can be easilysynthesized by the reaction of various amines with cabonyl groups of different aldehydes andketones. there are eight types of schiff base, such as reduction amines, shink ketonesemicarbazone class, hydrazone, thiophene. Contraction quinoline, amino acids, amino acidesters, and heterocyclic types, which can easily synthesize the complexes with most of metalions. From above, schiff base also plays a great part in coordination chemistry. This paper alsoprovides three ways to the current synthesis of polymide, like melt polycondensation, solutionpolycondensation and interfacial polymerization. Nowadays, polyimide has been widely used inthe high technological field of aviation, aerospace, electric appliance, machine, chemical industry,microelectronics, because it has so many better performance, like high temperature resistance,low temperature resistance, radiation resistant and good mechanical properties.A series of bis-Schiff Base are synthesized from ODA and benzaldehyde or benzaldehydederivant, The compounds'structure are characterized by Elemental analysis,UV,IR,H1NMRand the results are discussed. In UV, the spectrum of compounds display a characteristic strongabsorption at 337~376 nm assigned; In IR, The stretching and vibration of C=N appear in1604~1626 cm-1; In 1HMNR, the spectrum of compounds exhibit H proton signal of C=N bandat 8.34~8.63 ppm; results of the experimental consistent with the theoretical data.A series of diamine monomers are synthesized from ODA and four dianhydrides,polyimides were prepared by a condensation of the diamine monomers and terephthalaldehydeand followed by thermally via imidization.1. First, prepared diamine monomer which contains C=N by the reaction of ODA andterephthalaldehyde, then condensed the monomer with four kinds of anhydrides.2. First, prepared series of diamine by means of the reaction of ODA and four kinds ofanhydrides, then reacted with terephthalaldehyde.The polyimides'structure are characterized by Elemental analysis,UV,IR,TGA and theresults are discussed. In UV, The maximum absorption wavelength of polyimide range385 ~ 435 nm; In IR, The stretching and vibration of PI appear in1775~1785 cm-1,1715~1720cm-1,1375~1385 cm-1 ,725cm-1; Decomposition temperature above 510℃results of theexperimental consistent with the theoretical data...
