Considerable attention has been focused on the coordination chemistry of transition metal complexes with Schiff base ligands due to their remarkable flexibility in the coordination geometry and the coordination numbers of the metal ions. The Schiff base complexes usually contain O, N and some other donor atoms, which easily form versatile complexes with metal ions. On its hybridization orbit's N atom which has orphaned to the electron has entrusted with in its important chemistry and the biology significance. The Schiff base complexes have been received much attention and have been widely used in many fields, such as catalysis, magnetic materials, biological activity and many other fields.Urease inhibitors is a kind of inhibiting urease active slow release urea decomposition, avoid ammonia concentration caused by elevated the adverse effects. Domestic and international urease inhibitors types can be divided into three kinds: 1) organic compounds, phenolic quinonoids classes, heterocyclic etc; 2) phosphorus acetobromoglucose, 3) heavy metal ions. In recent years, in order to control the nitrogen loss and the water pollution, soil pollution, soil of ammonia and nitrate accumulation of agricultural crop cause environmental pollution problems. Urease inhibitors research has become many domestic scholars' attention hotspot. This paper mainly points to two parts: 1), 8 Hydrazone compounds have been synthesized, and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis; 2) With 1-pyridin-2-yl-ethanone as starting material, 6 Schiff base ligands and 5 mononuclear Schiff base Cu and Zn complexes, as well as 6 mononuclear and polynuclear Schiff base Cu and Cd complexes, have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Influence of the solvent, anionic groups, bridging groups, and organic ligands, etc. on the structures of the complexes have been investigated. Some of the complexes have been tested urease inhibitory activity. As a result, some of the complexes have interesting biological activity. The metal ions and orgainic ligand structures of the complexes can influence the activity against the urease.
