The application of injection mold CAD/CAPP technology greatly improves mold enterprise's productivity and competitiveness, it also makes the research and development of integrated system becomes a hot spot. However, because of the development of CAD system and CAPP system is not synchronized, the requirements on part information is diffrient in diverse production phases, the file format among diverse systems is diffrient, and so on, which lead to real integration of CAD and CAPP system has not realized.Parts information throughout part structure design, process design, manufacturing and management of whole production process, which is not only a basis for process design, but also the needs for CAM system's parameters setting, it can be said that part information is the bond of system connection and the key of system integration of CAD,CAPP,CAM. Consequently, the management of part information is highlighted in the subject study.Firstly, the thought of Feature-Based is established in the paper, which is applied throughout whole system study and development. Therefore, the method of Feature-Based is adopted to describe part information; also, combined with the system development needs, the contents and classifications of injection parts is analyzed, then part information model is established.Secondly, on the basis of part information model, following works have been finished:researched on injection mold part structure and production trait, and developed parts classification coding rules; analyzed injection mold parts forming feature and their traits, and proposed forming feature codes, feature coding rules and feature recognition rules, then combined with feature traversal technology, the feature recognition system was completed; the acquisition, storage, addition, deletion, calling and sharing of part information were achieved; according to forming feature codes and their process information, generative process reasoning was conducted, and the the reasoning results were output to Technical Processing Card.Lastly, on the basis of theory study, the part information management system prototype is developed on the plateform of SolidWorks, and an example is given to check theory study and system development.
