Now, there are four forms of large storage tank'foundation:the gravel pile composite foundation, consolidated foundation, reinforced concrete pile+cap, natural foundation. The threat of large storage tank mainly from differential settlement of foundation and the large deformation of the floor. With load growing from the large-scale growing and the increasingly complex technical requirements, foundation settlement and differential settlement increasingly stringent restrictions. Because of the vast regions of the soil structure and causes, as well as the geological characteristics of different soil changed greatly, especially in coastal soft soil around the distribution of many, it has a low intensity, and big bad compression properties. This kind of soil in the construction of large tanks, not only based on the settlement of large volume, there is also a greater deformation of storage tank bottom. Analysis and calculations on the settlement of domestic and foreign scholars have carried out relevant research, and its theory is introduced to design specification. There is no uniform standard about foundation settlement and deformation value to the present, different countries have their own suggested standard, foundation settlement research is still a problem that is worth discussing.This thesis relies on petro-china torch-plan projects:two-dimensional finite element method in the analysis of large tanks ground settlement. According to current data collected from actual projects, mainly on the use of dynamic compaction of the UAE's oil tank project, the use of dynamic compaction and pile foundation of oil storage tank project in Zhuhai, Guangdong, analysising deformation of floor under the different types of foundation.This article discusses the feasibility of finite element constitutive model parameters in-situ testing method for the calculation, and do the laboratory test to samples of the sandy soil from the United Arab Emirates to obtain a more complete and accurate model parameters. Established by two-dimensional and three-dimensional finite element software, finite element models to simulate the settlement of the tank foundation in the loading process, discussed the impact of different finite element model parameters of oil tank settlement. Getting that the model stiffness parameters has the greatest impact for the settlement and strength parameters, in theory, have no effect of settlement. But strength parameters has little effect in the actual calculation. It provides the basis for the adjustment of the simulation parameters in the project. A detailed analysis have carried out on the large oil tank foundation treatment field test, and proposing the correlation between the number of dynamic penetration hammering and parameters of Young's modulus of finite element model. It provide a reference for parameter selection in the numerical simulation of large oil tanks. Because the distribution of different tamping energy under bottom of the tank has the different effects on the settlement, it is concluded that the influence of the distribution of high tamping energy to tank center of floor when it is in the range of 0.7 times around the tank center and 0.7-ltimes the radius to the ring. So it provide a reference of similar design of Dynamic Compaction. From the analysis of the impact in differential settlement by different types of ring, It can find that the reinforced concrete ring can have better control of settlement results, but the control of differential settlement has a similar type with the other. From the analysis of the impact of the distance between two tanks, It is easily to find that when the distance between two tank search the tank radius or more, it has little effect on settlement of the tank ring and almost can be neglected. This provide a reference for tanks design. From comparison with different treatment methods in one geological foundation, an economic methods of foundation treatment is achieved. The paper analysis and summarize two-and three-dimensional simulation method, to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different method sand puts forward the application scope.This paper, based settlement by finite element numerical simulation method to analyze different geological conditions tank foundation settlement and loading process, and choosing proper geotechnical constitutive model and related model parameters to study the factors for storage settlement of tank foundation. To establish an analysis methods depends on the existing settlement analysis of the universal finite element analysis, provide the theoretical basis for engineering applications.
