With the growth of coal mine accidents, the status of mine casualties has seriously restricted sustainable development of coal industry in our country. Based on environmental conditions of mines and basic survive requirements of miners , in the absence of electricity and air supply , a life-saving module environmental control system is designed to meet the purposes of oxygen producing, cleaning and refrigeration. After comparing a variety of programs, Sodium peroxide is chosen to produce oxygen and carbon is used for air purification in four-person-room. According to the design requirements, polyurethane is used as insulation material, load calculation are done based on this, after that ice is chosen as storage material. Then thermal insulation performance of insulation materials and load calculation are verified for this test. In eight-person-room, compressed air bottle is used to provide oxygen and alkali metals are used to reaction with CO2 in order to absorb it. Hopcalite is used as a catalyst to oxidize CO. Its character is tested in different conditions. Evaluations of ice producing and ice storage are done from several aspects, and then turbine is used as ice-making equipment. After that the arrangement of ice is designed as well as the ice-making time is calculated. This life-saving module has an important value for saving lives of miners.
