In recent years, with the water environment management theory and technology continues to evolve and progress, China's water environment management has broken through the implementation of administrative unit area management by the traditional methods in order gradually to a complete ecological system as an independent management unit, ecological function of the system according to the nature of regional management and direction of change. Hence the need for watershed nature of aquatic ecosystems, functions and status of in-depth research, watershed ecological function as the foundation and basis for zoning. In such a background, for the comprehensive response to the nature of basin and status of aquatic ecosystems, the vulnerability of water environment management is becoming more and more important. Vulnerability of aquatic ecosystems is a capability that aquatic ecosystems and its vulnerable elements are easy to be impacted and damaged, and the lack of resistance to interference, maintaining the initial state (its structure and function). In this paper, the Liaohe River in Liaoning Province as the research object, through the Watershed Ecosystems field investigation, comprehensive "ecological zoning interim order" and other vulnerable research results, aquatic ecosystem vulnerability assessment index system and vulnerability assessment standards were established, the weighting of each index value was determined by the gray correlation. And on this basis, aquatic ecosystem vulnerability assessment classification maps were finished by using ArcGIS technology. The results indicated that the whole aquatic ecosystem vulnerability was worse, the regional sizes of the aquatic ecosystem areas of low vulnerability, moderate vulnerability,a high degree of vulnerability and extreme vulnerability accounted for 12%,34%,43% and11%.watershed area above moderate vulnerability has reached 88%, suggesting that the aquatic ecosystem circumstances in Liaohe River was seriously degraded. Special attention should be paid to ecological recovery of the aquatic ecosystem, and comprehensive measures should be taken to control the aquatic pollution.
