Trommel is discharging device of the overflow ball mill which is fixed to the discharge end of the ball mill by flange,and of which the main function is to separate blocks of Finished materials and not fully finished ground material by screen panel.To ensure that the cylindrical screen can work well in operation, its strength and rigidity must meet the requirements,so finite element analysis were conducted.This article analyses relationship of stress and strain as well as work safety of trommel through finite element analysis.This paper first introduces the principle of the finite element method.then analyses load of trommel were analysised while work,and then makes finite element modes for frame and guide plate - sieve assembly according to the structure and force characteristics.According to the provided 2D drawings and 3D Solid works model diagram of discharging screen by manufacturer,3D surface and geometric model is made using Pro/E,which are transform into ANSYS to generate geometric model.Finite element models were made for Frame by using Beam elements and for guide plate-sieve assembly by using layer shell element.Then load is applied to the finite element model, and frame to which load is applied and guide plate - sieve assembly are analysed by making use of ANSYS software, and sequentially the strength and stiffness conclusions of frame and guide plate - sieve assembly are derived.
