In this dissertation, some novel multi-dentate ligands containing N, O or S heteroatom and their transition metal coordination complexes were synthesized and characterized, and these compounds were modified on the surface of silica coated magnetic nanoparticles. SEM, TEM, FTIR, TGA and XRD as well as other technologies were used to investigate the figure, size, structure, chemical composition, and magnetic properties of the functional materials. This research consists mainly of three chapters.Firstly, Iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@SiO2) were prepared by the chemical coprecipitation and the method of Philipse. SEM and TEM showed that Fe3O4@SiO2 with an average size of 110 nm and MNPs with an average size of 10 nm。Secondly, synthesis and characterization of multi-dentate ligands bis(pyridine-2-ylmethyl)amine(6), bis(2-(pyridin-2-ylmethylthio)ethyl)amine (16), 2,6-bis(piperazin-1-ylmethyl)phenol (25) and 2,6-bis((4-benzylpiperazin-1-yl) methyl) phenol (30) were described. These compounds were fully characterized using UV-vis, IR and microanalysis.Finally, the functionalized silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles (MFMNPs) were applied to adsorption and separation of the BSA with chemistry binding. In addition, the direct separation BSA was achieved from bovine serum with high efficient and selective. With the advantage of easy preparation, low cost, easy handling, rapid separation and regeneration. The ligands 25 and 30 and their metal compounds will be modified to the surface magnetic nanoparticles. This preliminary study could point that these superparamagnetic silica nanoparticles had great potential to be used in other field.
