With the development of modern transportation modes in coal mine, trackless rubber tire vehicle in auxiliary transportation of coal mine in China is widely applied. However, due to the narrow width of underground tunnel, only one vehicle can be accommodated in general. In addition, as vehicles are difficult to see in time for each other, it is easy to cause collision, rear-end accidents, etc. In order to avoid safe accidents and improve efficiency of vehicles, automatic control and management system of trackless rubber-tired vehicle in coal mine is necessary.Automatic control and management system of rubber tire vehicle is divided into two parts: ground part and underground part. Network communication, real-time monitoring, control, dispatching and uploading vehicle operating information could be completed by host computer ground. Wireless detection subsystem underground provides vehicle number, driving location, direction and real-time status of traffic lights to the host computer, and implements the control commands of signals made by the host computer. The underground part, that is monitoring and control subsystem for rubber tire vehicle in coal mine, is designed and achieved in this article.According to the actual situation of underground tunnels, in order to get tire vehicle information, this article makes use of ZigBee wireless network technology, provides specific distribution methods, and uses a microcontroller as the core of the monitoring base station to determine the direction of a tire vehicle and to detect the real-time status of traffic lights, while using CAN bus for information exchange with the host machine. The subsystem consists of wireless detection, monitoring base station and communication modules between them. On the basis of reading extensive relative literature of rubber tire vehicles monitoring, a wireless monitoring and control subsystem for rubber tire vehicles is designed, including wireless monitoring of vehicle information, the judgement of vehicle direction and control of traffic lights. The subsystem could complete real-time monitoring of vehicle information and accurately determine the direction, providing a decision basis for the host computer. Testing shows that the system can meet the needs of trackless rubber tire vehicles'real-time monitoring, achieve the goal of automatic scheduling and control with the help of the host computer, and reach the target of determining an accurate rubber tire vehicle number, vehicle location and driving direction, that is the design meets the system requirements.
