It is urgent demand to accelerate the process of designing and manufacturing formachine tool. CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) is an increasing developingtechnique to meet the requirements of speed, stability and optimization. For thesimulation of overall machine tool, the basic environment should contain 3Dmodeling, dynamic modeling and dynamic analysis and so on.However, how to handle the joints between each two parts comes to be coreproblem, especially in case of multi-bodies in different kinds. It was suggested thatabout 60% of the total dynamic deformation and nearly 90% of the total dampingoriginate from joints.This paper investigates and simulates the dynamic performanceof vertical machine center with joint parameters considered and proposes the methodof optimization.The details of this paper are as follows:1) Studying finite element modeling and modal analysis theory, then establishthe structure finite element model of the experimental parts assembly and keycomponents.2) Simulation and analysis column-slide-bed model in the software ANSYS,explore how joint surface characteristics impact key components andassembly,how assembly stiffness influence on vibration characteristics ofassembly.3) Study principles of evaluation on the dynamic performance of machinetool,then get information which can evaluate dynamic performance of machinetool in the software ANSYS.4) Using modal analysis software LMS Test.Lab 9A to test the experimentalplatform for the modal test and key component for modal test, study how jointsurface properties influence on the dynamic properties of assembly.
