As it's low grinding force, high precision and adapt to a wide variety of hardness and shape, Wire cut Electrical Discharge Machine(WEDM), which has great domestic market, is widely used in producing components with complex shape, high accuracy and high degree of hardness. Hi-speed wire cut electrical discharge machine has become a mature technology with 10 years'development, but the domestic level is significantly lower than abroad no matter in processing speed, accuracy, automotive level, processing stability or in external appearance. The reason is that pulse power source and feed system of domestic WEDM is in the low control level, which largely hinders the development.This paper introduces the development and tendency of WEDM at home and abroad. It provides a digitized intelligent WEDM pulse power source to solve the deficiency of domestic control technology. And this study designs an entire control system of WEDM based on ARM9 Control chip STM32 controller aimed to improve the current WEDM control system.To the digitized intelligent WEDM pulse power source inferred above, this study uses Matlab/Simulink to simulate the circuit helping with setting up the real circuit. This paper points out the necessity that servo-actuator replaces the stepper motor and use Matlab/Simulink to simulate the control system of servo-actuator to help develop the platform of software and hardware.In the other aspect, this paper comprehensively explains the WEDM control system in software and hardware. First, it represents the design principle of control circuits and modules in hardware. Secondly, it introduces the initialization of STM32 chip, the disposition of modules and the practical application in software. Among them, it elaborates the generating process of PWM pulse signal and the debugging result of the circuit powered by pulse power source, which shows that the design can satisfy the target.
