A~2/O process has been wildly used in municipal wastewater treatment for phosphorus and nitrogen removal. The performance of this process is determined by the quality of the debugging step. However, debugging for the plants is still depending on the experience of the engineers. Therefore, it has important scientific and technological significance to propose some general solutions base on the analysis of the problems and mechanism involved in the process of debugging.The Sewage Treatment Plant of Yingshan County adopted the C-I-A~2/O process. Combining with the situation, we performed the debugging in two stages.The first stage was sludge inoculation and acclimated. After 41 days'sludge inoculation, this stage finished when the SV in Aerobic tank achieved 10%. But results showed that the effluent ammonia nitrogen and phosphorus failed to achieve emissions standards. It may due to the low influent water quantity, low organic matter concentration and low temperature which did not meet the requirements for the cultivation of sludge. And also, we noted that the erosion of sludge and the reflux ratio had not been adjusted on time.The second stage was the official commission stage. After analyzing the problems appeared in the first stage and taking corresponding measures in the second stage, the COD, NH3-N, SS met with B national level discharge standards. However, due to the high concentration of phosphorus in inflow water, improper construction of the sewerage pipeline, and inadequate of sludge removing strength, the total phosphorus (TP) was failed to meet with the national emission standard. Thereby, we proposed several measures, such as strengthening the degree of sludge removing, adding more flocculating agent, adjusting the sludge dewatering equipment.After finished the stage of biological debugging, we adjusted process parameters and debuged overall effluent to achieve effluent standard with the cooperation of structure by keeping the stable quality and quantity of inflow water. In the stable commissioning stage, the operation stability of all the equipments, the impact resistant capacity of structures were monitor on schedule. Whilst, daily management for the operation of the plant such as personnel linkage and establishes handwork arrangement, rules and management system, was also brought into practice.
