Coal mining can destroy local ecosystem in many aspects such as air contamination, water destroy, soil erosion, biodiversity decrease and habitat lost, etc. Those apparent eco-environment problems are the majority threaten to economic wealth of the area and undermine the social life, especially for the personal healthy. However, science was the basis in the traditional eco-environment risk management. With respect to the complication of coal-mining ecosystem for human health and enviroment, science find itself couldn't clarify the uncertainties and value conflicts in personal attitude. So it is necessary to integrate the local knowledge in coal-mining eco-enviromental decision making. The purpose of the present study is to assess knowledge and attitudes toward coal mining ecosystem in the stakeholder population in typical coal mine area, Shanxi. Firstly, Semi-structured Intereview was used to obtain the Fuzzy cognitive-map which included the various stakeholds'view. Secondly, Fuzzy cognitive mapping method was used to create ecological models with stakeholders'knowledge and further provide information for building up a participatory ecosystem management plan. Then, graph theory indices was calculated to perform the structure of each personal FCM and the social FCM. Finally, inference was based on social Fuzzy Conginitive Maps which contain the knowledge of 119 stakeholders. The result showed that'air pollution'and'water destroy'are the most mentioned variables, while'health effects'and'residents'income'are the core variables among stakeholders group. For the next step, recuding'air contamination'and''water destroy', improve the'Inhabitants'income'and'health were performed in the process of Fuzzy Cognitive Maps Inference. The output demonstrated that'soil erosion','waste of resource'were positively affecting'air contamination';'Expanding of relation industry'and'waste of resourse were positively affecting'water destroy'' ;'air contamination','water destroy','biodiversity decrease','threaten on personal safety'were negatively affected'Inhabitants'income'; 'air contamination','water destroy','geological disaster','noise pollution'were negatively affected'health effects'. In conclusion, government and enterprise should lay emphasis on controling'air contemination'and'water destroy','soil erosion','geological disaster'to improve the living condition for people. The findings of this study could provide valuable information to researchers and managers about stakeholders'knowledge and attitudes in mining ecosystem management, that could be take into account in the decision-making and protective actions in coal mine ecosystem in China.
