Grinding process is used to remove the surface material of large-scale workpieces, and firstly, the straightness should be given. Due to the size and weight of the large workpiece, there is not an easy, reliable, economical and practical method to measure straightness of large-scale workpieces compared to many other parameters like surface roughness, planeness, and so on. At present, the inspection and grinding processing technology of the large-scale workpieces in our country is behindhand compared to that in other countries. Herein, the issue"RESEARCH ON THE GRINDING TECHNOLOGY OF INSPECTION AND CONTROL OF LARGE-SCALE PLANE"was proposed. The typical large size workpiece----extrusion die was taken as a research object to study the inspection and grinding technology of large-scale workpieces. It will be significance to promote the inspection and grinding technology of large-size workpieces inland. In this paper, various influence factors of the automatic grinding were studied, and the main work and achievements are shown as follows:(1) Built the mathematical model, and propose the straightness measurement method and process with three-point method;(2) Simulate the result from influence factors during straightness measurement process of extrusion die with the computer;(3) Designe the straightness measuring instrument, and collected the data of straightness measurement process to prepare for the grinding process;(4) Designe a processable experiment and a grinding method of extrusion die on the basis of polishing machine and the research of grinding principle;(5) Designe a control scheme for the whole grinding process system to prepare to process those workpieces;(6) Investigate whether the control system of the grinding process meet to the requirements of extrusion die straightness by experiment. The error factors of measuring process are synthesized and the measuring process of straightness are simulated by computer. The result show that the straightness system based on three-point method can satisfy the demand of measurement precision of large-scale workpiece straightness. The experiment that process the extrusion die with the grinding control system shows that straightness of workpiece is improved evidently, which will be of great significance to improve the internal grinding process technology of large-size workpieces.
