The double-circular-arc gear hob is an important tool, which used in double-circular-arc gear manufacturing, its performance and accuracy not only directly affects machining efficiency of hobbing, but also affects the accuracy and surface quality of double-circular-arc gear manufactured further. The design quality of relief grinding wheel profile directly affects the performance of double-circular-arc gear hob. So it is an important research topic how to design the profile of grinding wheel of the double-circular-arc gear hob.The subject comes from cooperative program on technical research with well-known domestic enterprises. Take actual engineering drawings of double-circular-arc gear hob as research primitive basis, double-circular-arc gear hob truncated arc in the four part of work circular arc including the addendum work circular arc section, the concave tooth work circular arc section, the double wedge work circular arc section, the convex-concave transition section, and carried on the solution computation separately by which each spot coordinate figure constituting double-circular-arc gear hob's normal truncation shape and the derivative value are obtained. It lays a solid foundation for research work of grinding wheel shovel subsequently.Taken profile of double-circular-arc gear hob as the original data and based on the principle of space envelope and the ideas of counter-processing of grinding wheel by hob, geometry model of the relative movement between grinding wheel and cutter is established,and the profile of wheel is calculated and obtained; In this paper, the new method of contour-shaped grinding sand based on conjugate surface simulation is proposed, which issues a series of pole-ray on the grinding wheel, and the pole-ray is intercepted continuously in the process of relative movement between wheel and hob, then set of benchmark endpoint constituting the wheel is Intercepted in final. This method has the advantage of simple and intuitive.The simulation method has established computation model of the hob side shovel surface, and it has checked accuracy of grinding wheel silhouette. The mathematical simulation model of the tooth processed has been established, and gear normal tooth profile of the gear hob original edge processing and of re-grinding hob gear processing have been calculated, and compared the error between them, and has established direct relation between grinding wheel silhouette and the gear tooth profile.
