Hydraulic support is one of the main equipment for comprehensive mechanical mining, which is widely used in coal mine production. It provides safety support with hydraulic pressure during work process. Middle and small coal mine enterprise mainly adopts light supports to save cost. The small structure sizes of light support cause small support resistance ,small supporting area and bad supporting stability. All these lead to support's fall out, press fix and components failure.According to the questions reflected by support during mine production, a kind of light hydraulic support with auxiliary beam is proposed. Auxiliary beam is designed for top beam and shield beam, make ZZ1600/12/17 hydraulic support as the design prototype.Papers give structure scheme of the new hydraulic support. by making support structure type selection design,Analyze four linkage structure parameters influence on support strength, summarize structure parameters range. Three-dimensional entity model of the support is built by Pro/E software. By making finite element analysis for support's main structure, displacement nephogram and stress nephogram under different loads can be got to judge whether the support satisfies working requirements. The methods to improve support strength are given based on the finite element analysis results.New hydraulic support can change support area by controlling beam's width. The structure with more posts increase support resistance, enhances support stability and adaptability to complicated geological conditions, reduces support damage phenomena during working and decreases input cost.Hydraulic support with auxiliary beam gives a new design scheme for support structure design, provides reference for light hydraulic support's research and development.
