Hydraulic support is the main supporting equipment of fully mechanized working face in underground coal seam. It supports the roof of coal seam and maintains the security of our staff. So in order to prevent the occurrence of accident, hydraulic support’s strength must be guaranteed. In the process of designing hydraulic support, taking some methods and measures to simulate the work situation of hydraulic support and check hydraulic support’s intensity is very important.Place cushion blocks in different locations to simulate the actual work situation of hydraulic support and test stress of dangerous parts in hydraulic support. After this we can determine whether the stress intensity of hydraulic support meets the requirements. In addition, using the finite element analysis method and finite element analysis software such as ANSYS, ADINA, NASTRN, etc to analyze the hydraulic support’s stress are also a kind of line and effective method. The loading process of hydraulic support test is a dynamic process, the dynamic process could influence the test results, In addition, no one takes finite element analysis results contrast the actual stress test results in the current finite element analysis of hydraulic support and no relevant document that can explain the accuracy of the finite element analysis. In this paper we do the stress test of hydraulic support and make the corresponding finite element analysis. Based on these works, sub model method is studied in the application of hydraulic support finite element analysis. Main work includes the following aspects:(1) Analysis the load conditions of hydraulic support and calculate the stress simply.(2) The finite element analysis of whole hydraulic support.(3) Test the stress of dangerous parts in hydraulic support.(4) Use sub model method to analyze the tress distribution of hydraulic support.
