Recently, in China most coal mines use fully mechanized method in which the number of full mechanized support is changeless and the length of each working face is relatively fixed, so working face crossheading tunneling along the midline rather than the waist line. If the coal seams are rolls-and-swells, the face is uneven with the seams, which bring great difficulties to the subsidiary transport. As the tramcars frequently go up and go down, the occurrence odds of broken rope derail, fall way accidents is greatly increased. In order to prevent the transportation links accidents and reduce casualties and property damage underground, safe and reliable rail vehicle emergency braking system is essential.This paper summarized the domestic and foreign development present situation of underground transportation system, analyzed the existing problems of subsidiary transportation at home, compared with the two kinds of track brake principles and performance at home and aiming at the inadequacies of the existing brake, designed a new sectional type braking system that can effectively solve the existing unreliable rail agencies and braking insecurity of the rail joint. At the same time, as the frictional coefficient of the existing brake pads is smaller, this paper used a new kind of low temperature curing ceramic materials as the brake pads, by analyzing materials composition, applied range and performance of various brake pads, theoretically demonstrated the feasibility of using low temperature curing ceramic as friction plate material and checked its friction characteristics by friction experiments of low temperature curing ceramic. Besides, this paper designed, calculated and selected the critical component of the new-type brake, such as lord brake spring, brake hydraulic cylinder and power supply hand pump, and check the braking performance of the brake to achieve the requirements of Coal Mine Safety Regulations.
