As a rising melting technology in the 1930s electroslag remelting technology has got a rapid development during these shot decades. And the design of electroslag furnace automatic control system, the study on special electroslag furnace and the exploitation of electroslag casting technology have got remarkable achievement, and electroslag remelting technology has entered a new development stage. With the development of market, traditional technique of production can't meet the requirements which aim to enhance quality and efficiency and reduce cost, so people began to seek new technique of production. The production of electroslag continuous caster leaves out the forging or preliminary rolling blooming process, thus enhance production efficiency significantly.This thesis introduced the primary equipment and craft firstly, and then according to the characteristic that electroslag continuous caster doesn't allow the computer system to occur some breakdown which make the system couldn't work, it exploited an advanced computer control system whose core is double CPU soft redundancy PLC. Foundation examination and control step based on PLC undertake the process logical control of I/O points, collection of physical quantities and failure diagnosis. The superior management and supervision step sets control strategy through industrial Ethernet and PLC communication, gets real-time data, supervises the state of the whole equipment, the change tendency of each quantity in continuous casting process, the fault alarm and the report form of production and consumption and so on, and help operators complete the operations timely and comprehensively.In view of the control problem of casting speed in practical production for electroslag continuous caster and based on the theory of heat balance, the paper posed a method of casting speed determination and designed an automatic control system of casting speed. By analyzing the characteristic of casting speed control process, and combining to the advantage of the predictive model of generalized predictive control (GPC), trundle optimization and feedback adjustment, we designed a controller based on GPC and did some simulation experiments. The result indicated that the GPC controller makes the system have batter dynamic response performance and the characteristic of following setting value rapidly. GPC has better robustness and it adapts the variable circumstance more better than PID controller after parameter change.
