Sodium alginate(SA) and bacterial cellulose(BC) are natural polymers, which are biodegradable, compatible and widely available. There are important realistic meanings to develop the alginate sodium/modified bacterial cellulose complex fiber based on these raw materials, which can not only widen the original source of textile materials, provide us a kind of green and environment-friendly fiber, but also improve the properties of alginate fibers on clothing performance.Sodium alginate/modified bacterial cellulose blended fiber was spinned via the wet spinning process. Researched the compatibility of sodium alginate and modified bacterial cellulose and the rheology of their solution. And anlyzed the impact of different spinning conditions on the fiber's mechanical properties. Moreover, the poformance of the fiber was characterized by Infrared spectroscopy, SEM, X-diffraction, TGA, etc.We also discovered that the compatibility and spinnability of the complex solution, which was a typical pseudoplastic fluid were well due to the cooperative effect between SA and MBC. When the concentration of SA was 4%, the weight ratio of SA and MBC solution was 75:25, the coagulation bath were CaCl2 and methyl alcohol, the concentration of CaCl2 was 5% and the coagulation temprature was 40℃. Under these optimum conditions, we produced the alginate sodium/modified bacterial cellulose complex fiber with good tensile strength(2.55cN/dtex,8.5% better than alginate fiber) and thermal stability.
