Nowdays, halogen-based flame retardants are widely used in the production of flame-retardant conveyor belt, but the heavy smoke and toxic gases after combustion are easy to cause secondary pollution, also the smoldering phenomenon of conveyor belt cover glue is still need to be resolved and, without the help of halogen-based flame retardants it can hardly meet the requirement of relevant standards. In this article, through the study of the flame retardant properties of CR, we basically achieved flame retardant with low smoke and low halogen to meet industry standards of flame retardant. In the research, alcohol blow lamp combustion test, limiting oxygen index and cone calorimeter testing (CONE) were used to study the burning behavior, we also use TG and TG-DSC to analyses the flame retardant mechanism, use SEM to observe the cross section appearance and the surface of samples after combustion.1. The study of flame retardant effect of the expansion system. Such as the study about efficient charring agent, chemical intumescent flame retardant and efficient charring agent / chemical intumescent flame retardant. It demonstrated that there exists a competitive relationship between charring agent and chemical intumescent flame retardant, and when the ratio of them is 1:3, the synergistic effect is the best.2. The study of low halogen flame retardant system. In order to control the phenomenon of smoldering, DBDPE and new complex antimony, efficient charring agent, the chemical intumescent flame retardant composed a complex flame retardant system, and the synergy of them was investigated. Through the research we know that the flame retardant effect of the complex system can meet the industry standards and the content of halogen in flame retardant is lower.3. The research on flame retardant effect of the microencapsulated carbon accelerant system. According to rubber formulation optimization design system, the microencapsulated carbon accelerant and aluminum hydroxide, efficient charring agent and the chemical intumescent flame retardant were mixed into complex system in the uniform design. It showed that this system has large temperature region and has flame retardant effect at every temperature gradient, effectively controlling the smoldering time within the standards of industry. It may replace the halogen system in flame retardant.
