The application of Sinopec Sulphur Recovery process (SSR) and Claus+SCOT in Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company Ltd.(SPC) has been reached. Compared and contrasted two kinds of process technology in process, sulphur recovery ratio, energy cost and catalyst performance. By analyzing a large number of industrial production data and calibration data to verify design data and found unit bottlenecks, then try to eliminate bottlenecks. Found the reasons of catalyst bed coking, tail gas incinerator flameout and device corrosion and leak, and gave corresponding solutions. Compared and contrast the performance of different desulphurization solution which be used in SSR unit and Claus+SCOT unit, analyzed the flue gas SO2 content and the cyclic acid gas CO2 content. Because the different selective of different Alkylol Amine, the feed gas of two sulphur recovery units in a large difference in CO2 content. That difference leads to the difference of unit energy cost and practical capacity of two units. The SSR unit use high temperature mix and gas-gas heat exchange to heat process gas, so the unit energy cost is lower than the Claus+SCOT unit which use online furnace to heat process gas. Meanwhile, the CO2 content in process gas of SSR unit is lower than Claus+SCOT unit because of the same reason. The Claus+SCOT unit requires more sophisticated instrumentations than the SSR unit. If the online furnace control instrumentations failure, it's easily lead to catalyst poisioning or bed coking. As the Claus+SCOT process using online furnace heating process gas, it is inevitable in the process gas introduced excess CO2 and N2. The excess CO2 and N2 have a certain influence to capacity of the unit or achieve the capacity require for larger equipment.
