Hydrogen sulfide is a common tail gas from petroleum refinery,natural gas purification and ammonia synthesis process.Oxidation of hydrogen sulfide to dioxide sulfide is the main cause of acid rain.Sulfur recovery through the Clauss process is an extremely important process for the environment protection.Now,the three-class Clauss process is a widely adopted method for the sulfur recovery.The chemical process simulation by computer provide the convenient way for the process design.It reduce the working strength,and can obtain the precise result which is impossible for hand calculations.More important,it can also provide the functions for the process optimization.As a result,the cost decrease.In this work,chemical process simulation method of Aspen Plus is adopted for the three-class Clauss process calculation.The detailed process is that the sour gas partly oxidized to dioxide sulfide,however,the hydrocarbon in the sour gas is completely oxidized through providing the proper amount of air.Approximately a third of H2S was oxidized to SO2,and the residual H2S properly match amount of SO2 to form element sulfur in the reactor in order to reach higher conversion.The process optimization was also carried out for the reactor,exchanger and the whole Clauss process design.
