Dasheen petiole is the petiole of dasheen , Monocotyledons, tian naxing plant. It has the effect of detumescence and bee venom treatment. In this paper, extraction technology, anti-oxidantive effect and the antibacterial activity of dasheen petiole were studied. The result provided scientific basis for the further exploitation.(1) The extraction technology of alkaloid from dasheen petiole was studied in this experiment. Different factors were considered, such as the extractive temperature, concentration of ethanol, ratio of material to liquid and extraction time .Based on the single factor tests, the optimum extraction technology was determined through response surface analysis experiments: the extractive temperature was 78.2℃, the ethanol concentration was 84.4%, the ratio of material to liquid was 1:83, the extraction time was 2.4 hours.(2) Using the Vc as comparisons ,The antioxidation ability of dasheen petiole alkaloid was studied in this paper. The result showed that scavenging hydroxyl radical ability of dasheen petiole alkaloid was 20.76 U/g, total antioxidation ability of dasheen petiole alkaloid was 40.53 U/g, scavenging DPPH radicals of dasheen petiole alkaloid can reach 68.48%.(3) The antibacterial activity of dasheen petiole alkaloid was studied in this paper. The result shown that dasheen petiole alkaloid have a notable inhibiting microorganism activity against Staphylococcus aureus , Bacillus subtilis Salmonella typhimurium, andEscherichia coli, but it have no antibacterial activity against Trichodenna viride and Stachybotrys Chartarum. The antibacterial activity of dasheen petiole on gram-positive bacteria (Stachybotrys Chartarum and Bacillus subtilis ) was stronger than gram-negative bacteria(Salmonella typhimurium and Escherichia coli). In addition, the minimal inhibitory concentration for four kinds of bacterias were as follow: Salmonella typhimurium, 8mg/mL Escherichia coli, 7 mg/mL, Staphylococcus aureus,3 mg/mL and Bacillus subtilis, 4 mg/mL,.
