Nowadays, jeans have impressed us more and more profoundly due to their unique charm. When choosing a perfect jeans wear, consumers think about the culture connotation more than the style or the color. This proposes further requests to the after-finishing technology. As the rinse plays an important role in finishing, it is quite necessary to examine the effects of rinse to denim garments'properties. At present, H2O2, NaCIO arid KMnO4 are frequently used as bleacher to rinse the denim garments, for their oxidizability can destroy the dyes'structures, resulting in the so-called rinse effect. At the same time, the fibers will be damaged by the bleacher, affecting the strength and other physical properties of the garments. In this work, three kinds of bleachers, H2O2, NaCIO and KMnO4, are used to rinse the colored denim garments, including indigo blue, sulfur black and resistdye. Three parameters, including disposal time. concentration of the bleacher and the pH value. are investigated during the experiments. Through comparisons between the disposed samples and the originals, proper conditions with least influence on the garments'properties can be identified, and the mechanism of rinse on garments'shade can be explored. Further experiments are carried out to examine the effects of diverse bleachers on the properties of the same jean. The experiments show that H2O2 and NaCIO are appropriated for sulfur black and indigo garments respectively, while KMnO4 are appropriated for all the three garments. The principles of shade changes can be obtained through further analysis of the disposed samples using the infrared spectrophotometer, and comparisons to the originals.
