In this thesis, structure, process methods and mechanical property of hook and loop fastener are researched. By setting up the physical models of peel strength and shear strength of PA hook and loop fastener, simpler peel strength and shear strength formulas are gotten.Through studying woven hook fastener, it is comprised of a base fabric, a multiplicity of hook elements mounted on the base web in row and vertical lines. The ground weave is plain weave. When each 3 ground weft is woven with plain weave, hook filament warp is changed direction around metal bars, interweaved with ground weft and then to form a small loop. After the cutting operation, the loops have been converted into hooks having the appearance of snap-hooks.Through studying woven loop fastener, it is comprised of loop multifilament warp, ground warp and ground weft. It is seen that 4 ground warp:1 loop multifilament warp:4 ground warp:1 loop multifilament warp:4 ground warp of collocation method. When each ground weft is woven with plain weave, loop multifilament warp is changed direction around metal bars, interweaved with ground weft and then to form a small loop.Through studying a hook and loop fastener comprising a base web, a multiplicity of hook elements and loop elements mounted on the base web in row and vertical lines, in each row, each hook element is adjoining a loop element on each side thereof. The distribution ratio of the hook element to the total of the hook elements and loop elements is approximately 33 percent. Each loop element is 1mm higher than each hook element.Through studying the peel strength of PA hook and loop fastener, it is seen that peel strength is influenced by hook diameter, hook density per width and hooking percentage. And based on the mechanics theory and mathematical statistics, the relationships of hook diameter and peel strength are deduced with the requirement of no over 5% error percentage. It can be used in the limited calculating and forecasting of peel strength of the fasteners.Through studying the shear strength of PA hook and loop fastener, it is seen that shear strength is influenced by hook diameter, hook density per square and hooking percentage. And based on the mechanics theory and mathematical statistics, the relationships of hook diameter and shear strength are deduced with the requirement of no over 5% error percentage. It can be used in the limited calculating and forecasting of shear strength of the fasteners.
