Vanadium is an essential trace element with unique chemical properties and biological activity. Vanadium compounds have hypoglycemic, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect, of which the hypoglycemic effect is particularly striking. Inorganic vanadium compounds have a very low bioavailability in the gastrointestinal absorption, usually less than1%. In order to improve the bioavailability of vanadium compounds and reduce their toxicity, generally appropriate ligands were selected to design and synthesize organic vanadium complexes. In this paper, two categories of vanadium complexes were synthesized and characterized based on a large number of synthetic experiments. One is the vanadium pyrazine carboxylic acid hydroxylamido and the other is oxalic acid hydroxylamido. The main work of the research as follows:1. One new vanadium hydroxylamido complexe was synthesized with2,3-pyrazine dicarbonic acid ligand. The basic compositions of the complexes were determined by the elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, the IR, the UV spectra and the single crystal diffraction analysis respectively.2. One new vanadium-oxalate-hydroxylamido complexes have been obtained. The counter ion in this complexes is Rb+. A series of testing of the new synthesized complex, including the elemental analysis, the IR thermogravimetric analysis, the UV spectra and the single crystal diffraction analysis.3. A series of performance of the newly synthesized complexes were tested, including: Fat-solubility study:The protein tyrosine phosphatase PTP1B was carried out. In the end the activity was compared between:1,the2,3-pyrazine dicarboxylic acid and2,3-pyridine dicarboxylic acid hydroxylamido vanadium complexes.2,Different counter ions of vanadium-oxalate-hydroxylamido complexes, including:ammonium, potassium, cesium, rubidium hydroxylamido vanadium complexes.3,Ternary simple hydroxylamido vanadium complexes and Binary different substituents replaced by hydroxylamido vanadium complexes. The preliminary conclusion was a basis for further research and establishment of structure-activity relationship of vanadium complexes as insulin mimics.
