An analytical method for the quantitative determination of migrationlevels of polymer additives such as antioxidants and UV absorbers in foodpackages by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with UV visphotodiode array detection has been developed. The pretreatment stepinvolved solid-phase extraction with silica C18cartridges. The analyticalmethod showed good linearity, presenting regression coefficients (R2)≥0.9990for all compounds. This optimized method was also validated with respect toprecision, reproducibility, stability, and accuracy. The limits of detection andquantification were between0.09and1.72μg mL-1and between0.20and5.64μg mL-11for12analytes, respectively. Recoveries were in the range of67.48and108.6%, with relative standard deviations between2.76and9.81%.Migration levels of antioxidants and UV absorbers were determined. Butylated hydroxyanisole(BHA),2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol(BHT),2,4-di-tertbutylphenol(DBP), Cyanox2246, Irganox1035, Tinuvin326, Tinuvin328, Irganox1010, and Irganox1330were detected, BHT and Cyanox2246were at higherlevels than the specific migration levels in some food simulants. |
