WEDM as an important branch of one of the special processing methods, it often processes high hardness, high strength of new materials, manufacturing high precision parts. Before finishing in WEDM machine, the parts generally through multi-channel processing, the cutting of the surface roughness is high, and the cutting speed is slow. A part in the process that requires a few hours or days, power-down situation without specific protection will not affect the surface roughness, and reduces the processing efficiency and improve cost. Therefore, the processing to achieve full state memory and recoverable processing conforming are needed, the power-off protection for the development of WEDM is very necessary.An improved WEDM system can be achieved to save the processing state of the power-down time and to be restored after power-on processing status information of the breakpoint guides the machine next action. On the basis of the study of the various CNC system power-down protection program, the article development the WEDM system with a set of power-down protection function, its main research work are as follows:Subject objectives are established based on the research background, research and analysis at this stage of the power-down protection implementation plan, determines the main content of this research project, and does the overall design of the WEDM system.In the functional design of the WEDM system host computer, it include the interpolation calculation module, and lower the machine's serial communications interface module and power-down protection module.The hardware circuit and software programming in the lower machine, needs for the expansion of off-chip memory, the detection power down immediately notify the lower machine to enter the interrupt, receive interpolation pulse data in real-time storage, transfer date on-chip RAM at the power down time, and then re-power on, verify the accuracy of the data requested by the host computer, recovery the breakpoint information. By the request of the stepper motor control, its speed and steering control for the overall design, the driver chips to improve the drive pulse signal design the hardware circuit, completed a motor-driven programming using C language.
