Yan'an Refinery Factory has become one of important petroleum processing enterprises, which has many petroleum processing units including crude oil distillation, FCC, reforming, hydrogenation, MTBE and polypropylene units, etc.. The primary processing capacity of crude oil is ca.8Mt/a and the secondary processing capacity researches3.5Mt/a in Yan'an Refinery Factory. In recent years, environment protection regulations became stringent and stringent. In order to reduce the emission of SO2and recovery of sulfur in refinery gas, an improved technology process, LO-CAT Ⅱ sulfur recovery (LO-CAT Ⅱ) technology process, was developed and really applied in Yan'an Refinery Factory. LO-CAT Ⅱ technology process takes some advantages:(1) the increase of the treatment capacity of S-containing swage from60t/h to120t/h;(2) low-pressure single tower for stripping;(3) LO-CAT process for sulfur recovery; and (4) two-step combustion of tail gas. The key technical problems in LO-CAT Ⅱ technology process were analyzed and discussed in detail, and the possible solutions were proposed for the industrial application of this technology process. In addition, the technical economy of LO-CAT Ⅱ technology process was evaluated. Comparing with the unreformed technology process, LO-CAT Ⅱ technology process is the combination of advanced multi-technology and possesses high operation flexibility, low energy consumption and low emission of SO2.
