Application Study On Sulfur Recovery Process And The Matching Options In WHPC

The technologies of sulfur recovery and tail gas treatment were summarized in this paper. Based on the analysis of operation situation for the 60 kt/a sulfur recovery unit in Wuhan Company of SINOPEC, several problems from the process and selection and use of equipments are pointed out, which include, the recovery technology of tail gas in liquid sulfur pool is imperfect, the cutoff valve of the sulfur production unit couldn’t move smoothly, instruments were blocked easily,amine liquid system in the solvent recovery unit was corroded seriously,liquid sulfur pump took place the frequent breakdown. The optimized schemes for the sulfur recovery process and the type-selecting scheme for equipment upgrading were put forward to solve the above problems and to ensure the safety and environmental production of the unit. Meanwhile, because of the low-grade crude oil trend and capacity-expansion reform and petrol quality upgrade in WHPC, the process schemes and equipment selection for a new 80 kt/a sulfur recovery unit were given to solve the development problems of the company according to Sinopec’s "N+1"configuration requirements for sulfur recovery unit. It has a certain reference for other companys to construct, optimize or modify sulfur recovery unit.
