Noncrystalline carbon nanoparticles have attracted much attention for their photoluminescent properties, tunable surface functionalities, biocompatibility and nontoxic characteristics. In this dissertation,we focus on the preparation and properties of noncrystalline cabon nanoparticles and their composites. The main contents are as follows:(1) Carbon nanoparticles were synthesized directly from carbohydrates by a one-step hydrothermal synthetic route using acid/alkali as additives. The fluorescent properties were characterized by ?uorescent spectrophotometry, and the fluorescent carbon nanoparticles are application in bio-imaging. Photoluminescence measurement results confirm that the carbon nanoparticles have up-conversion photoluminescent property and the near infrared photoluminescence of the carbon nanoparticles can also be observed by near infrared excitation.(2) Based on fluorescent carbon naoparticles, Fe3O4/carbon nanocomposites have been prepared by a facile chemical method. The Fe3O4/carbon nanocomposites exhibit good photoluminescence and strong magnetic properties.(3) The ionic-liquid-functionalized carbon nanospheres supported Pt nanoparticles are synthesized through the ion exchange method. The electrocatalytic activity of ionic-liquid-functionalized carbon nanospheres supported Pt nanoparticles towards the methanol oxidation reaction is studied.
