Hybrid organiceinorganic nanocomposites based on the incorporation of polyhedral oligomericsilsesquioxanes or POSS into polymeric matrices have received a considerable amount of attention. POSS has a compact hybrid structure with an inorganic core made up of silicon and oxygen atoms (SiO1.5)n, with n=8, 10, 12, externally surrounded by non-reactive or reactive polymerizable organic ligands. The non-reactive ligands, R, are generally isobutyl groups, cyclohexyl or cyclopentyl rings and sometimes phenyl rings. The interactions between the organic ligands and the matrix control the initial solubility of the POSS in the medium, and thus the degree of dispersion of POSS and of property modification.The vinyl trimethoxysilane(VMS), (γ-glycidoxypropyl)trimethoxysilane(GPMS) and (γ-methacryloxypropyl)trimethoxysilanes(MPMS) hybrid materials modified by Tetraethoxysilanes(TEOS) were prepared by a Sol-gel method in the study. The molecular weight was tasted by gel partition chromatography(GPC), which told the ideal condition of the react. The characteristics were identified by Fourier transform infrared(FTIR). Ormosil thin films were coated on glassic matrix by dip coating. The morphology and thickness of the film was characterized with a scanning probe microscope(SPM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM) device. The optical properties were characterized and studied with a UV-VIS-NIR Scanning Spectrophotometer(SSP). The film properties of thermodynamics were characterized and studied with thermogravimetry analysis(TGA). The nano-indenter method was used to determine the hardness and the modulus, the interfacial bond strength and the scratching micrograph by means of MTS Nano Indenter XP. It was found that the materials had the structure of nanascale silsesquioxanes and that the hybrid material had good trans mittance and good properties of thermordynamics. ZrO2 content in hybrid films had great effect on properties. The result showed that inorganic regent content in hybrid films had great effect on thermal shock resistance properties. The POSS hybrid film with inorganic regents Na2O,MgO,CaO,SiO2,ZrO2 has the ideal thermal shock resistance property.
