Flexible coordinate measuring machine as the new high precision measurement instruments for large complex parts in high precision workpiece and the detection and reverse engineering, is used as a very important measurement devices to guarantee the manufacturing accuracy in modern industry. The principles and methods of theoretical study and error analysis is the key point to improve the Flexible coordinate measuring machine, so this paper carried out the " Theoretical Study and Error Analysis for Flexible CMM" is necessary.Based on the theoretical analysis of the system measuring principle, the paper established mathematical model of coordinate measuring, leapfrog coordinate transformation, the length measurement and deformation measurements, determined a reasonable system parameters, and achieved the overall optimization design of the measurement system. figured the fast and precisely measurement for car deformation components. According to the measuring characteristics of flexible coordinate, studied on the measurement error sources, analyzed the measurement error on the relay times, deduced the error formula. Through one to n times error analysis, discovered leapfrog measurement error generally has nothing to do with the placement and step of the leapfrog, but of directly proportional to the leapfrog times, and the productive accuracy of the leapfrog ball should be higher than the measuring accuracy, so the method to improve the measurement accuracy of leapfrog measurement is to improve the system measurement accuracy. These results are of important reference value for the application of flexible coordinate measuring machine and the large scale actual measurement.
