Research On The Empty Container Redistribution Problem For Multimodal Transportation

Container multimodal transports are a standard modern transportation. It was focused on by more and more countries, by solving the problem of complex and sporadic small goods fundamentally, and bringing enormous economic benefits to our society, so its capacity and traffic volume kept continues to grow. As international trade imbalance and container mismanagement, the imbalance of container transport import and export quantity and so on. It causes a lot of empty container allocation, enormous transportation costs, which increases the total cost of the operating costs and social logistics of transportation enterprise. It becomes urgent and important topic of transportation to formulate rational empty container allocation.First of all, the current situation of empty container allocation was analyzed in this paper, based on the statistics of the empty container allocation in four global routs, then it reveals the reason of container allocation, combined with the characteristics and object of container allocation,on this basement, proposing some measures to reduce the empty container allocation. According to the container circulation program, the paper expounds on the process of empty container allocation and then analyzes the supply and demand deeply from the sub-system of empty container allocation.Secondly, from the view of transportation enterprise, the thesis establishes the model of empty container allocation to get the object of minimizing the overall cost around seaborne and land carriage, under the customer demand, and solve it by the software of Lingo 9.0. And then, it analyzes the impact of on the overall cost from the leasing costs and limitation of the container transport ship, basing on the calculation result.At last, the issue of container replace in actual transportation was analyzed and the empty container allocation model based on container replace was established. Then the economic significance of container replace was expounded, compared the two different results of the case and the situation without replacement.
